Renocrit 5000 Injection
What is Renocrit 5000 injection?
Renocrit 5000 is a prefilled injection that is given to patients to help produce more red blood cells in the bone marrow. Red blood cells are produced in the kidneys. Lack of red blood cells causes anemia. Certain kidney diseases lead to usually patients with failed kidneys and having regular dialysis. Renocrit 5000 injection is also used to treat anemia caused by cancer chemotherapy.
The active ingredient is Recombinant human erythropoietin alfa 5000 IU. Which belongs to a class of drugs called erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs). This medication treats anemia caused by chronic kidney disease (CKD), and cancer chemotherapy. It also reduces the need for red blood cell transfusions in patients at high risk for blood loss due to planned surgery or having regular dialysis.
Renocrit 5000 injections should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to it or any of its components, uncontrolled hypertension, active thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA), pure red cell aplasia (PRCA), uncontrolled seizures, pregnancy, or lactation. It should also be used cautiously in patients with a history of blood clots, heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, liver disease, thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, leukemia, or cancer. These injections are often prescribed to patients with kidney conditions like failed kidneys or patients with conditions like dialysis.
